Barbara Jean Money (née Gray)
Barbara J. Money, 98, of Little Canada, MN, passed away on December 5th, 2025 at home after a brief illness. She had been living at Cardigan Ridge Senior Living in Little Canada for the past eight years after moving to Minnesota in August 2017 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Born on August 15, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she graduated from Shortridge High School in June 1945. On September 7, 1947, she married Harland E. Money in Indianapolis. They had two daughters together, Lee Ann and Sandy, and later moved to Muncie, Indiana for Harland’s job.
Always aspiring to be a teacher, Barbara began college at the age of 36 when her kids were both in school. She attended Ball State University to earn her teaching degree and graduated in 1970. Two years later, she finished her Master’s in Education in June 1972. Barbara taught first at Gaston Elementary and then at Wes-Del Middle School until retiring in 1993. During her career, she took part in several academic organizations; she was president of the Pi Lambda Theta Alpha Chapter from 1976-1978 and served as president of the Delaware County Reading Association. Additionally, she was involved with the Beta Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed gardening, reading books, listening to music and preparing holiday meals for family gatherings. While living in Muncie, she was an active member of Hazelwood Christian Church and also sang in their choir.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Lee Ann (Ed Merkert) and Sandra (Michael Dolce), along with grandchildren Jim and Sara Dolce.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harland Money; her mother Bertha Fry; and her brother Wayne Gray.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home – Roseville located at 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM that same day at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
The service will also be livestreamed on this obituary page on Saturday December 13 starting at 11:00 AM
