On Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia, Brian (Moe) Moreland was surrounded by his loved ones as he took his last breath. He will be deeply missed by the love of his life for 52 years, Nora Moreland, their children Rob (Lisa) and Teresa (Jamie), and his adored grandchildren Kassandra, Trenton, Logan Mc Lellan, and Connor and Caleb Moreland. He will also be missed by his furry friend, Pebbles.

Brian is predeceased by his parents John (2021) and Beatrice (Mc Corquodale) (1972), sister Frances (2005), and brother Joey (1957). He was also predeceased by in-laws Ted (1997) and Joyce Rupert (2003), Betty and Ted Scott, Marjorie Rupert. He is survived by sister Georgina and brother John (Janice); in-laws Frank, Howard (Rose), John (Linda), Darlene (Bruce), Elaine (Darryl), Carol (Mark), along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

His passion for hockey defined much of his life-from minor hockey to senior leagues. Brian was part of the 1968-69 Ontario Championship Woodstock Junior C Navy Vets team. After junior hockey, he continued playing in various leagues including Thursday night industrial league, Ingersoll league, Legion oldtimers, and Huff and Puff league. He hung up his skates at age 60 as a member of the Rusty Anchors. His love for the game went beyond just playing; he proudly supported Rob throughout his hockey career and cheered on Teresa during her figure skating days. He also enjoyed watching granddaughter Kassandra excel in figure skating, cheerleading, karate, as well as supporting all his grandsons-Trenton, Logan, Connor-and Caleb with their hockey pursuits. He was a familiar face at the rink who brought joy to everyone.

During summer months you could find Brian on the golf course enjoying the friendships that came with the sport’s challenges. His enthusiasm for sports shone through as a loyal fan of The Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Black Hawks. His commitment as a fan matched the unwavering dedication he showed to his family.

Brian and Nora created many unforgettable memories together over their years traveling with hockey teams along with family and friends.

Brian served proudly in the Canadian Army; he was stationed initially in Fredericton before moving to Gage Town, Camp Borden then Calgary with Fort Garry Horse.

After completing his service in the army, Brian dedicated 37 years working at Kelsey Hayes then Eaton/Timberjack John Deere until they relocated to the USA.

As we say goodbye to Brian today we celebrate a fulfilling life filled with purpose that brought happiness to those around him. All who had the privilege of knowing him will carry fond memories forever.

Memorial visitation will occur on Thursday January 29th from 2-4 pm and again from 6-8 pm. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday January 30th at 1 pm at Brock & Visser Funeral Home located at 845 Devonshire Ave., phone number: 519-539-0004. A reception will follow at Navy Club located at 959 James St., Woodstock ON N4S 8X8.

If desired donations can be made instead of flowers to Woodingford Lodge Woodstock or Alzheimer Society South West Partners.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all staff members from Mapleville unit at Woodingford Lodge long-term care facility for their support during this time

“With you I’ve found the perfect partner best friend and sweetest love anyone has ever known. I am so grateful life led me to you Brian. Love you then love you now love you forever Until we meet again hugs and kisses,”

Nora
