It’s a rainy and breezy Sunday morning in the Waterloo Region.

According to Environment Canada, the area can expect some rain showers this morning, which might turn into snow flurries later on.

570 meteorologist Carl Lam cautions that wind will be a significant factor today.

“Those gusts today could be up to 60, even 70 km/hr at times,” he said. “It will still be very windy tonight and even into tomorrow.”

Additional snowfall might also be on the way. Several locations west of the Region, including Stratford, Woodstock, and Goderich have received snow squall warnings. This is an update from a snow squall watch earlier this Sunday morning. Lam mentions that snowfall amounts are “wide ranging” and will differ depending on the location.

“They could be anywhere between 20 to 40 cm of snow,” he said noting that snow could continue into the afternoon and possibly Monday morning.

With these snow squall warnings in effect, drivers are reminded to stay alert as conditions may lead to reduced visibility.
