Ontario revealed today that it’s putting nearly $40 million into revitalizing Wasaga Beach.

Premier Doug Ford mentioned that $25 million will be dedicated to restoring the Nancy Island Historic Site.

This site includes a historic museum showcasing the battle involving the HMS Nancy, which captured two U. S. schooners before being sunk during the War of 1812.

Ford also stated that part of the beach owned by the province will be handed over to the town with the stipulation that it remains public at all times.

Tourism Minister Stan Cho noted that there will soon be a marketing campaign launched to attract visitors to key locations around the province, including Wasaga Beach, known for being the world’s longest freshwater beach.
