Police Seek Woman After Failed Robbery in Simcoe

Ontario Provincial Police are looking for a woman involved in an attempted robbery at a business in Simcoe early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred just after 6 a. m. at the location on Queensway West between Hunt and Norfolk streets.

Norfolk County OPP report that the woman, armed with a sharp object, reportedly demanded cash from an employee and tried to take merchandise.

The attempt was unsuccessful, and the woman ran away on foot. She was last spotted heading south toward North Main Street.

ADVISORY: #Norfolk OPP is informing about a heavy police presence on Queensway West between Hunt Street North and Norfolk Street North in #Simcoe due to an ongoing investigation. The public should avoid the area. More updates will follow. ^pia

The police describe the suspect as a Caucasian woman in her mid-to-late 20s with a slim build. She was dressed in a black jacket, grey sweatpants, black and white shoes, wearing a black face covering, and possibly had on either a pink toque or a pink hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.

Local residents are encouraged to check their home surveillance cameras for any footage related to this event.
