A 60-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Pickering.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash near Kingston Road and Fairport Road around 10:40 a. m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, according to Durham Regional Police.
The man was walking along the shoulder when a white SUV veered off the road and struck him, police reported.
The 46-year-old male driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The pedestrian was taken to a trauma center in Toronto where he remains in critical condition as of Dec. 1, police added.
The road was closed for several hours while investigators gathered evidence.
