Thefts at community mailboxes are causing issues for several neighborhoods in Ontario.
Halton Regional Police report that mailboxes are being targeted in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.
Burlington has experienced the biggest rise in these crimes, especially in the Millcroft and Orchard areas; however, break-ins are happening throughout most places.
No one has been arrested yet.
“The break-ins are occurring in the early morning hours between 2 a. m. and 5 a. m.,” police have said. “Suspects are using tools to pry open parcel lockers and steal mail and packages.”
Police mention they are increasing patrols in many areas; however, they urge community members to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
