A Beer Store located in Pickering is one of six stores set to close in the latest round announced for early November.
The company stated that several locations will shut their doors on Nov. 2, with the store at 1355 Pickering Parkway closing due to an expanded alcohol marketplace in Ontario impacting its business.
Other stores closing on Nov. 2 include those in Mississauga (3535 Etude Drive), Niagara Falls (4570 Bridge Street), London (1225 Wonderland Rd. N.), Mattawa (511 Valois Drive), and Sudbury (891 Notre Dame Avenue).
The Beer Store had previously disclosed plans to close 21 locations this month, with another dozen scheduled to shut down on Oct. 19.
“Where we sell beer and collect empties is changing in Ontario as part of market modernization,” Ozzie Ahmed, the vice president of retail at The Beer Store, said in a news release on Wednesday.
“In an ongoing process, The Beer Store is adapting to market changes and making the hard decision to close retail locations.”
