As March break wraps up, there’s plenty of exciting events happening this weekend in the Waterloo region, Guelph, and Wellington County.

The Great Canadian Fiddle Show will be at the Fergus Grand Theatre on Sunday afternoon.

Laurier’s Faculty of Music is celebrating its 50th anniversary with gala concerts on Saturday at 7:30 p. m. and Sunday at 3 p. m.

Sing in Solidarity is a free event hosted at Trillium Lutheran Church in Waterloo (organized by various local churches, choirs, and groups) where everyone is welcome to come together and sing. It’s described as an intercultural, intergenerational, and interfaith gathering aimed at supporting those who feel anxious or powerless due to current world events.

You can build some forts during a drop-in program at the Mc Cormick branch of the Waterloo Public Library on Saturday afternoon. Materials for all kinds of creative structures will be available during the Geodesic Dome and Fort Building Bonanza.

The Kitchener Rangers are finishing up their regular season this weekend. They’ll be playing against the Sarnia Sting at The Aud on Friday night before heading to Owen Sound on Saturday.

The Guelph Storm will host the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night at the Sleeman Centre before traveling to face off against the Erie Otters.

The K-W Titans will be away this weekend in Sudbury.

The Relative Minors and author Alison Mc Gauley

Saturday 2 p. m. to 4 p. m.

Cambridge Public Library, Hespeler branch

This free drop-in event features a reading of Kenzie’s Little Tree by author Alison Mc Gauley, followed by a performance from Cambridge indie rock band The Relative Minors.

Kids will also get to participate in a craft they can take home with them.

Light In the Dark

Sunday 2 p. m. to 4 p. m.

Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo

The Baden Storytellers’ Guild will celebrate World Storytelling Day with a concert full of stories. Listen as local storytellers share tales from their lives or inspired by others as they welcome springtime.

Fashion for Change

Saturday 3 p. m. and 7:30 p. m.

Hagey Hall Theatre, University of Waterloo

The student-run non-profit organization Fashion for Change is hosting their charity fashion show to raise funds for Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region.

Eid Carnival

Saturday 11 a. m. to 4 p. m.

Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Kitchener

This event will feature traditional music performances, henna art, face painting, crafts, and delicious food.

You can enjoy free admission to the museum for that day.

College Royal

This Saturday and Sunday

University of Guelph

This whole weekend is packed with activities across campus.

An open house weekend lets people explore buildings while students host various events including pancake flipping contests, tractor pulls, an art show featuring cats and dogs, bubble soccer games outside, Old Mac Donald’s Farm fun times-plus tasty milkshakes (make sure you bring cash for that mystery flavor).

The open house has no entry fee but there may be costs associated with some activities or food items.
