The Ontario Provincial Police have ended a shelter-in-place order that had advised residents to stay indoors in Simcoe on Saturday.
Officials were called to the vicinity of Kent Street North and Union Street after receiving reports of a firearm being discharged around 12:58 p. m.
Initially, police shut down Colborne Street North, Union Street, Young Street, and Kent Street while they conducted their investigation.
In an update shortly before 8 p. m., OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk confirmed there were no reports of injuries and that the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
Nonetheless, the investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the police.
No additional details regarding suspects were available at this time.
