Authorities have uncovered a troubling case involving hidden cameras in a women’s washroom, resulting in 85 charges of voyeurism against a factory janitor. Police are alerting the public that there may be additional victims.
The investigation by Toronto police began on January 9, focusing on a janitor at a manufacturing site located near Thickson Road and Tricont Avenue, who is accused of installing a hidden camera inside the women’s washroom.
On January 29, investigators executed a search warrant at an address on Mc Cowan Road and Finch Avenue in Scarborough, where they arrested Francis Ambas, 45. He was found to have a media card containing video and audio recordings captured within the washroom.
During their search, authorities also found several more videos from the hidden camera(s) and suspect there could be other victims who used the washroom between April 4, 2022, and January 29, 2026, without realizing they were being recorded.
Ambas faces 85 counts of voyeurism along with charges for possession of a schedule one substance.
He appeared in court for the first time on January 30.
