With heavy hearts, the family of Marjorie De Ruyte (Reed) announces her unexpected passing on March 10, 2026, at St. Michael’s Hospital, at the age of 76.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her dear husband, Benedictus “Dick” De Ruyte. She will be fondly remembered by her children Angela De Ruyte and Michael (Kimberly) De Ruyte. A proud grandmother, she brought joy to Cameron, Adam, and Chelsea who affectionately called her “Gma”. Marjorie is survived by her mother Norma Reed. Her father James Reed passed away earlier. She will also be missed dearly by her siblings Nancy (Ernie) Johnson, Vickie Lapiere-White, Randall (Lisa) Reed, and Gary Reed, along with many nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Echo Bay, Ontario, Marjorie was actively involved in her church community at Faith Baptist Church. Her faith and commitment were clear through her dedication and regular attendance. Close friends Bev Wood, Deb and Mike Johnson will feel her absence deeply as well as others from the extended church community.

Marjorie’s kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she met; she always had a helping hand or supportive words ready for those around her.

Cremation has occurred. A service will take place at Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay, Ontario on April 11, 2026 at 1:00 p. m. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Michael’s Hospital, especially those in the Cardinal Carter Wing, for their outstanding care during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay or to the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation – Cardinal Carter Wing.

Marjorie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Online condolences can be made at www. hillsidefuneral. ca
