Wasaga Beach – An enhanced partnership between the Town of Wasaga Beach, County of Simcoe, and the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society will ensure that our most vulnerable residents and their pets can find safe, warm spaces during the winter months.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre, those facing homelessness can now bring their pets along to the Wasaga Beach Warming Centre. This donation includes vital supplies such as food, crates, dog jackets, and ongoing assistance throughout the winter season.
This initiative is a genuine team effort to aid unhoused individuals; Faith Missionary Church is offering shelter and meals, the Town of Wasaga Beach is contributing cots, bedding, and local public transit access, while the County of Simcoe provides financial backing for warming centre operations.
The Wasaga Beach Warming Centre is situated at Faith Missionary Church, 1355 River Rd W, Wasaga Beach, ON L9Z 2W6.
Quick facts Launched on Monday, January 13, 2025, the new Wasaga Beach Warming Centre is a temperature-activated facility that operates up to seven nights a week from 8:30 p. m. to 8:30 a. m. The centre opens when temperatures are forecasted to drop below -10°C. During their stay at County-funded warming centres, individuals can also get help finding shelter, housing options, healthcare services, and other supports. These efforts are part of a larger initiative aimed at assisting more people in accessing social services and wellness support while helping them transition into other housing opportunities if they wish.
