“Forever our dad, forever our hero.”

With heavy hearts, we share the news of Scott Alan Goodwin’s passing. He left us peacefully on March 6th, 2026, surrounded by his family at home. Scott was born on July 19th, 1958, in Brantford, Ontario.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie, and his pride and joy, Eliza and Nigel (Yasmine Hogan). He is also survived by his mother, Marilyn Mac Kinnon; siblings Mark (Claudia) Goodwin and Lori Goodwin; sister-in-law Vivian (Bryan) Heppler; brothers-in-law Raymond Irvine and Richard (Malissa) Irvine; Betty; Sanchez; Bev Maronese; cousin-in-law Mary Williamson; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Scott dearly. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Goodwin; stepfather, Ed Mac Kinnon; and brother, Gordon Goodwin. Throughout his battle with cancer, Scott had many supporters beside him. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Cathy and George Cava, lifelong friend Scott Norman, Fatima Tavares, Marina and Don Mac Leod, as well as all the friends he made along the way. Family and friends meant everything to Scott. His loyalty ran deep-if you held a piece of his heart, it was yours forever.

After graduating from Lakehead University, Scott started working in corrections and ended his career as a youth probation officer when he retired in 2017.

Sports were a big part of Scott’s life. Whether he was playing hockey or lacrosse or cheering for his favorite teams like the Red Wings or the Raptors with Oliver-the dog he adored-he truly enjoyed every moment. You could easily spot him on his daily walks with friendly waves from passersby marking each encounter. Sitting around a fire with stories to tell while enjoying music made him happy. From an early age, fishing captured Scott’s heart-whether in small streams or large lakes-and he created countless cherished memories during those adventures.

Scott had a magnetic presence that will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pro Kids and Paws for Love would be appreciated.

“Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished.”

Condolences may be made through www. nwfainc. com.
