JAHNS – Marilyn Marie (nee Mac Voy)

Marilyn passed away on October 10, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by her family.

She was the widow of the late Waldemar (Wally) Jahns (2023). Loving mother to Dr. Brian Jahns (Renee Bubel) and Stephen (Dr. Sheri Roszell). Proud Oma to Lauren, Alec, and Liam. Auntie Marilyn to numerous nieces and nephews.

Dear sister to Linda O’Neil (Gordon) and Laurie Pepper (Doug). Sister-in-law of Lilla (Jahns) Frei. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert (Bob) Charles Mac Voy (1999) and James (Jim) William Mac Voy (2010), as well as brother-in-law Theodor Frei (2011), and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arthur (2024) and Norma (2023) Jahns.

Her parents, Charles Robert and Gladys Muriel Mac Voy, along with in-laws August and Lilli Jahns, also predeceased her.

Marilyn graduated from Walker Road Public School and was a strong advocate for education at all levels. She believed that learning and self-improvement were essential for success. An accomplished student, she graduated from Lowe Vocational High School as valedictorian of her class alongside Paul Martin Sr., QC-a local lawyer who would later become an influential Canadian politician. It must have been quite awkward when she turned down a job offer from Mr. Martin right after graduation since she had already accepted one from Richard Walker, QC.

Marilyn took great pride in her role as a legal administrator and library administrator at Miller Canfield LLP before retiring. Her knack for research, organization, and public speaking often annoyed her two sons throughout their school years but helped them master typing skills.

She found joy in seeing former legal students pass the Bar exam or take on significant roles such as mayor or CEO.

Marilyn served as a Girl Guide Leader, volunteered with elementary school students to enhance their reading abilities, held various positions related to Parent-School Committees, and was actively involved with the Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW) at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for over twenty years.

After losing her husband, Marilyn made every effort to live independently in their home built together in 1962 with their fathers. She was fortunate to have a caring team of PSWs from St. Elizabeth’s Health-Comfort, Taylor, Tia, Maddy, Charlotte-whose visits brought much happiness to both Marilyn and her family. We are grateful for our extended family of lifelong friends like Pat, Michaela, Harry and Mary, Maria, Luigia, Pat along with Henry & Joyce; your love and support meant so much to Marilyn.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in Marilyn’s honor to Hospice Windsor or Autism Ontario (Windsor Essex).

Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel 1700 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor) on Tuesday October 14 from 3:00PM-5:00PM and again from 7:00PM-9:00PM. A chapel service is scheduled for Wednesday October 15 at 10:30AM followed by interment at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
