A man was discovered deceased at a recycling facility in Vaughan on Friday evening, according to York Regional Police (YRP).

Officers were dispatched around 10 p. m. Friday after receiving reports about an injured individual at a recycling facility located on Planchet Road, as stated by Staff Sgt. Jay Hayes outside the scene early Saturday morning.

Police found a man dead at the scene “among recycling debris,” YRP noted on social media.

Hayes mentioned that the man is not thought to be an employee of the recycling facility.

The Office of the Chief Coroner and YRP’s homicide and missing persons unit are involved in the investigation, Hayes said.

He indicated that they are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Residents in the vicinity can expect a significant police presence while authorities process the scene, according to Hayes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to police.
