Brian Lise peacefully passed away to be with Jesus on the morning of July 17th, 2025 in Rosthern, SK.

Born on January 5, 1946 in Drente, Holland, Brian moved to Canada with his parents, Tom and Jane Lise, and six siblings when he was just 9 years old. They settled in Ontario and lived in various places throughout his childhood. Even as a young boy, Brian was known for being outgoing and friendly to everyone he met; his enthusiasm for life was truly infectious. He carried a strong faith in Jesus and aimed to share the hope he found with those around him. Brian was driven by vision and purpose and had a genuine passion for service and mentoring others.

In his early days, he actively participated in school activities and sports. He attended Mohawk College for Electrical Engineering where he became captain of the football team, served as editor of the yearbook, and volunteered as the local president of the Young People’s Association. After completing college, Brian worked in his electrical field but also took time off for adventures traveling across Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the US with his best friend Alf. During this time he met Rita Buninga, a lovely Dutch woman who also immigrated to Canada as a child; they married on December 3, 1971. Shortly after their wedding, Brian began working with a Cable TV company in Nova Scotia while their family started to grow.

In Nova Scotia their first daughter Joy was born followed closely by Janet when they moved to New Brunswick to continue with cable TV work. In 1977, feeling called away from the growing engineering industry, Brian entered into ministry. The family relocated to Sarnia ON where he took on the role of Christian camp director. As their third daughter Julie arrived soon after that move into their trailer home became cramped. They then moved to Holland Marsh ON where Brian built a new home for them while raising funds for Bibles through The World Home Bible League. This is also where they welcomed two more daughters into the family-Juanita and Justina completed what they fondly called “the five J’s.” In 1992 they made another move to Abbotsford BC while Brian worked with Pacific Island Ministries before returning once again back to Ontario in 1996 settling in Alton ON where he took up work at Partners International eventually becoming director at Eurovangelism. Over these years he traveled extensively visiting missionaries worldwide raising funds for various projects; leading Vision trips so supporters could see firsthand how their contributions were making an impact was something he loved doing immensely! One of his most cherished moments came during a trip in 1994 when he met Mother Teresa in Kolkata India! Throughout his life journey he visited over sixty countries changing countless lives through Christ while helping raise over ten million dollars towards spreading Gospel work!

Brian along with Rita were deeply involved within their local church volunteering whenever possible-they even facilitated itinerant preaching motivating others about missions whilst giving them opportunities not only financially but spiritually too! They stood firmly behind each one of their daughters throughout her journey attending Bible College which led them traveling around different parts globally together! In 2011 after many years devotedly serving God they decided it was time for retirement relocating again now being part of Warman SK community where immediately dove right back into church activities such as participating actively alongside senior groups Global Christian Centre Ministries serving on Canadian Bible Society board too. Brian & Rita enjoyed living closer now grandchildren spending numerous hours together cheering at soccer games tending beautiful gardens soaking up summer sun or building snowmen during winter months-traveling frequently visiting friends/family all across Canada & beyond sharing laughter memories created forever!

In late November year prior (2023), unfortunately diagnosed prostate cancer became more significant issue impacting health despite treating naturally since initial discovery back then till fall season approaching end mark next year ahead (2024) hence needing extra care provided lovingly by partner through hard times battling dementia herself causing rapid decline affecting quality life shared closely together nearly fifty-four incredible years side-by-side witnessing unconditional love radiating constantly amidst trials faced hand-in-hand!
