It is with great sadness that we share the news of Russell William Cunningham’s passing on October 31, 2025. He fought bravely against cancer and left us peacefully at the age of 40, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband and partner to Dayna for 20 wonderful years. As a caring father to William and Jack, he brought joy into their lives. His faithful friend Henry will also miss him dearly. He is lovingly remembered by his proud mother Patricia Cunningham (nee. Mailloux), and father Greg (Janine) Cunningham. Russell was a beloved son-in-law to Lynn Chalut (George Wong) and Hugo (Madonna) Ferrone. He was an adored brother-in-law to Jordan (Megan), Sarah (Besim), and Payton (Bailey). His absence will be felt deeply by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends across Windsor, Toronto, and Vancouver. Russell had a strong connection to nature; he loved camping, hiking, and fishing with his sons. A big fan of the Electronic Music scene in Detroit, Windsor, and Vancouver, he enjoyed many events there. In his professional life, Russell worked in the IT Department at St. Clair College at both the Windsor and Chatham Campuses. Sports were another passion of his; he especially enjoyed playing golf and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. The family would like to express special gratitude to the Nurses, Volunteers, and staff at the Hospice of Windsor/Essex County for their exceptional care during this time. They also want to extend heartfelt thanks to his devoted mother-in-law Lynn for her unwavering support throughout his illness-her presence during every appointment and her help with his children provided incredible strength for all involved. A visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E (519-253-7234) on Tuesday, November 4th from 2:00 – 5:00pm and again from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Following Russell’s wishes, cremation will happen later on; an interment will occur with immediate family present only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice of Windsor/Essex County. Online condolences along with treasured memories can be shared with the family at www. windsorchapel. com
