Provincial police report that a man from Whitby has died following a snowmobile crash in Kearney, Ont., on Saturday.

In a statement released Sunday, Ontario Provincial Police indicated that officers responded to a call about a single snowmobile hitting a tree on Trail AL301 of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club around 2 p. m.

The OPP confirmed that the 51-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A section of the trail was closed for an investigation but has since reopened, according to the OPP’s release.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to reach out to them.
