The CPKC Holiday Train is set to roll into Durham Region next month as part of its yearly journey across North America, supporting local food banks with stops planned in Bowmanville and Oshawa on November 29.
The 2026 season of this bright holiday tradition kicks off on Nov. 19 in Montreal, covering a total of 182 stops throughout Canada and the U. S.
This year, the holiday train will visit several locations in Ontario during November, including Belleville, Brighton, Bowmanville, Oshawa, and Toronto on the second-last day of the month.
Now celebrating its 28th year, the Holiday Train is all about generosity and community spirit while aiming to assist neighbors who are struggling. Feed the Need Durham will benefit from donations collected at both Durham stops.
The CPKC Holiday Train will make its first stop in Bowmanville (Scugog Road and Wellington Street) from 2 p. m. to 2:30 p. m., followed by Oshawa (680 Laval Street, behind the Wal-Mart) from 3:15 p. m. to 3:45 p. m.
This year’s Canadian tour features performances by American Authors, known for their hit song ‘Best Day of My Life’ from 2013, along with Canadian country artist Tyler Shaw (‘Kiss Goodnight’).
Since it began in 1999, this annual event has raised over $28.3 million and gathered more than 5.6 million pounds of food for local food banks.
<p attendees are invited to bring monetary or non-perishable food donations to support Feed the Need in Durham.
The event is free for everyone who wants to attend; however, organizers advise people to be cautious about ticket scams.
