If you’re planning to vote early in St. Catharines for the municipal election on Monday, you’ve got two more chances to do so.
City Clerk Kristen Sullivan confirmed in an email to that as of Wednesday, 4,490 voters had already participated at advance polls.
“We anticipate the number of voters attending an advance poll will increase over 2022 when we had 5,401 voters cast a ballot early,” Sullivan said.
The upcoming advance voting times are:
Thursday, Oct. 22: 10 a. m. to 8 p. m. at the St. Catharines Public Library’s Merritt Branch at the Pen Centre, 221 Glendale Ave. Saturday, Oct. 24: 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. at the Grantham Optimist Club, 188 Linwell Rd.
Voters needing an accessible ballot-marking device should go to an advance poll since those devices will only be available there, Sullivan noted.
The city also launched “drive-up voting” for the first time on Oct. 18 at Market Square. Sullivan mentioned that residents have reacted positively to this option, which lets voters cast their ballots without getting out of their cars.
On election day, Monday, Oct. 26, polls will be open from 10 a. m. to 8 p. m. Voters can choose from three polling locations within their ward; details are available on the city’s website.
Residents should bring identification that shows their name and a qualifying address when they go out to vote.
St. Catharines saw about a 26 percent voter turnout in the last municipal election in 2022, according to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
