A resident of Wasaga Beach has been charged with creating child sexual abuse material and other related offences after a joint investigation that involved police from the Mississauga-Brampton area.
The inquiry into alleged child exploitation saw collaboration between the OPP and Peel Regional Police, leading to a raid at a residence in Wasaga Beach back in June.
During this operation, investigators reported seizing several electronic devices.
On September 12, police arrested a 33-year-old individual from Wasaga Beach.
While the suspect’s identity hasn’t been disclosed, authorities state that the charges against the 33-year-old include making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, accessing such material, voyeurism, and two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The accused is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on October 27, according to the OPP.
“The OPP will continue to identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children. Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by educating their children on internet safety,” police say.
Anyone with information about this incident can contact the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www. ontariocrimestoppers. ca.
When you contact Crime Stoppers you stay anonymous, never have to testify, and could receive a $2,000 reward.
