Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious crash between a transport truck and a vehicle on Thursday evening that sent one to hospital in critical condition.
It happened around 7:46 p. m. in the 700 block of Burton Road, a rural roadway in Vars. Provincial police were the first to respond to the situation where they found a 20-year-old man with critical injuries. He was the driver of the vehicle.
The 20-year-old remains in life-threatening condition, officials said.
The transport truck driver did not sustain any injuries.
Ottawa police took over the investigation from OPP on Friday morning. The force issued a release asking for people to come forward with information or dashcam footage.
This is third serious crash on Ottawa-roads this week. Police are urgently asking people to be more cautious and obey the rules of the road.
A 60-year-old man in Barrhaven and a 78-year-old woman in Sandy Hill – both pedestrians – were killed in the last two days.
