Canada is getting its very first Nintendo Store, but it’s not quite what you might expect if you’ve visited places like Tokyo, New York, or San Francisco.

Nintendo is launching its first store‑within‑a‑store concept in North America, and the debut location in Canada is right in Toronto. You can find this new experience inside the EB Games flagship store at 267 Yonge Street, which will officially open on October 17 at 10 am. The opening day will feature a ribbon‑cutting ceremony and some special promotions while supplies last:

“Opening-day offers include a $50 Nintendo e Shop gift card with the purchase of $200 or more in Nintendo products, or two $50 Nintendo e Shop gift cards with the purchase of a Nintendo Switch 2 system. Offer valid October 17, 2026, in-store only at EB Games Yonge & Dundas location and not available online; while supplies last.”

CGMagazine had the chance to check out the new Nintendo Store within EB Games and chat briefly with Susan Pennefather, Vice President and General Manager of Nintendo of Canada, along with Jim Tyo, President of EB Games Canada.

We asked Pennefather why EB Games was chosen for this partnership and what made this specific location stand out:

“From our perspective, EB Games has been the best retailer in terms of creating a great environment for gamers, families, and fans to come and celebrate. They’ve done that for so many years here in Canada that they felt like the very natural partner to really bring this type of experience to life.” She continued, “We have celebrated so many Nintendo moments in this store. We did the launch of Switch, the launch of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom right here. Jim and I celebrated the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 most recently. And so this location felt very fortuitous and just the right place to be.”

Tyo echoed these sentiments about working with Nintendo by saying, “We share a lot of common values. We believe in community, connection, play. So it’s a natural fit for both companies to come together like this.” He then shared that developing this store within a store took several years:

“We’ve been working for years on developing a very all-encompassing space for Nintendo in our stores, which is a little different than every other partner that we have. Every store in Canada does have a Nintendo store where we’ve integrated video games with toys and collectibles, and it was very well received. So it was kind of a natural starting point to show us what was possible.”

The area spans around 1,500 square feet designed specifically as a dedicated zone for all things Nintendo inside the existing shop. It showcases hardware from the Nintendo Switch 2 along with demo stations, themed displays, and an extensive selection of accessories and merchandise. Like other Nintendo Stores around the world, Toronto’s location will also offer exclusive items such as the My Mario™ Mario & Friends Wood Block set.

Jim Tyo wrapped up our discussion by hinting at exciting plans ahead for this collaboration between Nintendo and EB Games: “This is the starting point. We’ll continue to evolve this space, listen to customers’ feedbacks , and try to create an amazing experience for them.” Pennefather agreed with him saying,”…we’ll continue to work together. We’ve got Zelda’s 40th anniversary coming up soon; teams are already discussing what merchandise they want to bring in. I know if you’re looking for something special; this will be your go-to place.”

For gamers across Canada, this marks an exciting moment since it’s their first opportunity to enjoy such an immersive retail experience from Nintendo right before holiday season kicks off. The brand-new Nintendo Store within EB Games Toronto is located at267 Yonge Streetand opens its doors officiallyon October 17 at10 am.
