Boo Bash returns to Ontario city Saturday, bringing scares, music and Halloween vibe to downtown

For the second year in a row, downtown Oshawa is set to become even spookier with the Boo Bash street party happening this Saturday.

Attendees can look forward to pumpkins and costumes, lots of live music, local vendors, and a steady stream of quirky characters roaming the streets, all on offer at this free event organized by Oshawa Tourism.

Boo Bash will take place from 1 p. m. to 10 p. m., divided into two segments. The first two hours are perfect for families with young kids and anyone who gets scared easily since there won’t be any actors in the event’s ‘Scare Zones’ between 1 and 3 p. m. After that, organizers say things get a bit “less gentle.”

The highlight of the day is the Krampus street party, featuring the horned holiday demon arriving at 3 p. m. Guests can dance in the street to eerie tunes from Squid Lid while Krampus watches nearby. If you’d prefer to check out his lair without encountering him, make sure to visit before 3 p. m.

Victoria Lane will showcase six giant scarecrows crafted by local artists, and Vital! Circus will present a darker version of their usual show. A resident exorcist will also confront a possessed child, plus there’s an electric chair attraction where costumed prison guards will roll out a custom-built chair complete with atmospheric lighting, sound effects, and smoke. Guests can observe this theatrical performance from a safe distance or even try sitting in it themselves.

Oshawa Tourism Director Lasha Laskowsky-Reed advises visitors to “keep an eye out for Lottie, a grumpy trailer park resident who’s had just about enough of everyone. And if you hear bells, be cautious. That’s Sickie Dee coming through with frozen treats that are apparently tasty enough to make you sick.”

Families will have plenty of fun too! Pumpkin decorating runs from 1 to 3 p. m. at the front of Victoria Lane next to the Regent Theatre-pumpkins are provided along with markers, paint, and jewels. Adults are encouraged to join in; however, children must have an adult with them.

Local businesses downtown are also joining in on trick or treating throughout the day.

The Boneyard Stage will feature entertainment throughout the day as well-from a Michael Jackson impersonator performing Beat It and Thriller to local rock bands like Far From Infamy and Psychlo before Sumo Cyco wraps up the show.

The Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash – ‘Spirits Rise’ – took over downtown Oshawa last year for an entire day filled with excitement and community celebration right in the city’s heart.

“Oshawa is becoming recognized across Ontario for its events all year round-and Boo Bash adds an exciting new fall experience,” said Krista Licsi Executive Director of Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce last year. “It gives families and visitors-and Halloween enthusiasts-a reason to spend their weekend downtown discovering what makes Oshawa special.”

As dusk falls, Boo Bash-which follows up last year’s ‘Monster March’ parade-will transform into an after-dark adventure featuring live music and immersive scare zones designed for thrill-seekers and Halloween fans of every age.

The Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash is supported by the City of Oshawa as well as Superzooka and Citrus Media.
