Two individuals have lost their lives after a small aircraft went down in a field close to Fergus on Friday morning, as reported by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The incident occurred around 10:15 a. m. near the intersection of Beatty Line and Wellington Road 17, according to the Wellington County OPP detachment. The plane ignited after it crashed, they stated.
The aircraft had two occupants, both of whom were declared dead at the scene, OPP confirmed, without providing further details about them. No additional injuries were reported.
Fergus is the largest community within Centre Wellington Township and is situated roughly 20 kilometers northwest of Guelph.
Authorities cleared the area shortly after noon on Saturday.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
