This weekend, the Ontario Provincial Police are launching another traffic enforcement operation.
They’ll be on the lookout for dangerous driving behaviors like speeding, aggressive driving, and driving under the influence.
Checking seatbelt usage and child safety seats will also be part of their efforts.
This initiative is called Operation Impact, which is a yearly national traffic safety campaign organized by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
The OPP reports that the Thanksgiving weekend has seen some of the worst tragedies in Ontario, with 13 fatalities across the province last year.
In northwestern Ontario alone, OPP issued over 400 charges last year, with more than 90 percent related to speeding.
Additionally, police will continue patrolling trails and waterways to address unsafe activities and encourage safe practices.
