Kingston Police say they are actively looking for 49-year-old Mason Jenkins, an inmate who is currently unaccounted for. In a press release sent out around 3 p. m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, police stated that Jenkins was “unaccounted for during the 11:15 a. m. count at the minimum-security unit of Collins Bay Institution” that same day. Officers from Kingston Police are now searching for the inmate, who is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and possession of a schedule I/II substance with intent to traffic, as mentioned in the release. Court documents reveal that Jenkins was found guilty in 2001 of murdering his sister back in 1998. Police described Jenkins as a white male approximately 179 cm (5’9”) tall and weighing around 116 kg (255 lbs), with fair skin, brown eyes, and brown hair that is currently shaved bald. “Jenkins was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans and rubber boots,” Kingston Police noted. Anyone who has information about Jenkins’s location should contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0; callers can choose to remain anonymous. Kingston Police warned that anyone spotting Jenkins should not approach him but should instead call 911. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) released similar information in their own press statement at around 3:32 p. m.
