PETERBOROUGH – Race fans in Central Ontario are gearing up for another exciting event this month as the Ontario Sportsman Series heads to Peterborough Speedway for the Silver Wheel 100, presented by AF Automotive Fluids on Saturday, August 8th.
This season marks the 19th year for the popular series, with nearly 25 teams participating so far and four different drivers having claimed a main event victory. Tim Tolton was the most recent winner, taking home the victory on Saturday, July 25th at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. Currently, Shawn Mc Glynn leads in points, followed closely by Kevin Trevellin-who won his first race at Peterborough in 2022-Sean Mangin, Donavin Clark, and Cooper Aubertin rounding out the top five.
A look back through series history shows a strong connection between former champions and Peterborough Speedway. Connor James secured titles in 2019, 2024, and 2025. Brandt Graham, who raced Mini Stocks in Central Ontario before moving up to Sportsman cars, won championships in 2016 and 2017 after three seasons competing under the Ontario Sportsman Series banner. He also earned rookie of the year honors in 2015.
This weekend’s racing lineup will not only feature the annual visit from the Ontario Sportsman Series but also includes home track Bone Stock and Late Model divisions along with Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series and KOD Disposal Ontario Bandoleros. The Kid’s Barrel Races will be an exciting attraction during intermission. Grandstand gates open at 5 p. m., with racing kicking off with the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 6 p. m.
