Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Norfolk County report that a woman has died after being discovered inside a burning home in Simcoe, located east of London, on Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews were alerted to the fire at an Orchard Avenue address around 1 p. m., according to police. Firefighters managed to enter the house and find a 50-year-old woman. Despite their attempts to save her, she was later declared dead at the hospital.
The Norfolk County OPP crime unit is looking into what caused the fire alongside the office of the fire marshal and the chief coroner’s office.
