The City of Brampton’s Mobility Plan has been honored with a 2026 Plan ON Vision Award of Merit from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
This plan was among six projects chosen to receive a 2026 Vision Award of Merit. The Plan ON Awards celebrate the accomplishments of planning professionals and teams throughout Ontario.
Approved by Brampton City Council in September 2025, the Brampton Mobility Plan serves as the city’s long-term Transportation Master Plan, outlining strategies for transportation investment.
“Brampton is Canada’s fastest-growing big city, and how we plan for that growth today will shape how people live, work and move throughout our city for generations,” said Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. “This recognition from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute reflects the innovative work happening in Brampton to build a transportation network that gives residents more choice, improves connectivity and supports a sustainable future.”
The plan identifies essential infrastructure, services, and operational enhancements needed to transport people and goods safely and efficiently as Brampton continues to expand.
Following the city’s Complete Streets approach, this plan considers the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers. It also integrates transportation with land-use planning to boost the overall capacity of Brampton’s transportation network while offering residents more travel options.
The plan addresses expected population growth through seven guiding principles: enhancing mobility and travel choices for people and goods; improving environmental sustainability; integrating transportation with land-use planning; promoting multimodal transportation equity; safeguarding public health and safety; leveraging technology; and prioritizing community engagement and collaboration.
The Mobility Plan was created through public input and technical analysis while building on both the Brampton Plan and Brampton 2040 Vision.
This award also highlights the efforts of City of Brampton transportation planning staff and project team members involved in developing this plan.
