Five individuals were hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday evening after a three-vehicle accident south of St. Thomas.
A pickup truck and an SUV collided at the intersection of John Wise Line and Fairview Road before hitting another SUV that was stopped around 6:15 p. m., according to OPP.
The five people in the SUV that crashed into the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police reported.
Three occupants of the truck were also transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The people in the second SUV suffered minor injuries and did not need to go to the hospital, police stated.
John Wise Line and Fairview Road reopened at 2:50 a. m. on Friday.

Woman Arrested for Assaulting Two Boys at Lemonade Stand
A 61-year-old woman has been charged with assault after an incident at a lemonade stand in Walkerville left two boys injured. The Windsor police reported that the two children – aged eight and 13 – were selling lemonade on Gladstone Avenue near Niagara Street when they encountered a woman who “became hostile toward them.” The woman pushed one child and knocked over another child’s chair, causing him to fall. Both boys received minor injuries. Officers responded to reports of an assault on August 3 around 9 p. m. Later that night, police found the suspect at a residence on Niagara Street and took her into custody. The woman is facing two counts of assault.
