Canadian president Mark Carney has gained attention for poking fun at Donald Trump’s ‘accordion hands’ during a speech.
The US president is well-known for his animated hand movements while speaking, and he’s often teased for gesturing in a way that resembles playing an invisible accordion.
This quirky style is frequently referred to online as Trump’s ‘accordion hands’.
Carney went viral after mimicking these ‘accordion hands’ in a speech given in Ottawa, much to the delight of the audience.
In the popular clip, Carney remarked: “It’s the functional equivalent of 18 Hoover Dams.” He then gestures with his hands in a manner that imitates Trump’s ‘accordion hands’ and repeats: “18 Hoover Dams.”
A cheeky smile appears on Carney’s face as he hears the audience laughing, and he says “enough” – but he continues with the imitation.
The Canadian president then uses his hands similarly again while pretending to mouth words, which brings even more laughter from the crowd who can be heard cheering and clapping.
Eventually, Carney regains his composure along with the audience to continue making his point.
This isn’t the first time Trump has faced mockery for his hand gestures – at one of his rallies in July, an audience member playfully mimicked his phrases and movements.
