September 19, 1960 – September 12, 2026
We are heartbroken to share that Mike Reedy, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, passed away in his home on September 12, 2026, just a week shy of turning 66.
A proud member of the Batchewana Band, Mike was born to the late William John and Levina (née Cadran) Reedy and spent much of his childhood in Batchewana.
Family meant everything to Mike. He deeply missed the two most important women in his life: his late wife Carol Richards and long-time partner Ruth Fleming.
His children, Ashley Richards and Justin Richards, will miss him greatly. He was also a loving stepfather to Danielle Fleming (Evan), Tony Agawa, and Tyler Agawa (Natasha).
He had a special bond with his grandkids Hailey and Carter, Nash, Juni and Vander, Jasmine and Charley. “Papa Mike” enjoyed teasing them, playing peekaboo, bouncing them on his knee, and always had candy ready to share.
Mike was the brother of Ron (Danielle), late John (Barbara), late Matt (Colleen), late Mark (Mary-Anne), late Karen (Ernie), late David, and Edna.
He also had a close relationship with his brothers-in-law Rhonda, Jay (Colleen), Wade (Robyn), Susan (Dan), as well as the late Fred, Nancy (late Ian), Wayne (Carolyn), and Brenda (Tim).
Mike will be remembered fondly by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; including Joanne Bjornaa (late Duane) and Philip Swanson.
Mike was a social guy who loved people. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories. His generosity knew no bounds-he’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
The outdoors brought him joy; he loved camping and spent years fishing on Lake Superior. He had countless stories about fishing techniques while keeping an eye on the weather! A natural fixer-upper at heart; he enjoyed learning how things worked. Recently he took up making furniture and would spend hours sanding until it was just right.
For many years Mike worked for Alfie’s Painting alongside friends Alfie and Troy Rizzo. He was dedicated to his work until the very end.
Miigwech, Mike for all the laughter you brought us along with your stories and kindness. You’ll be missed deeply but loved forever.
