Authorities have confirmed that a fire at a funeral home in downtown Oshawa earlier this month was set intentionally, according to police.
Officers arrived at the Mcintosh-Anderson-Kellam Funeral Home on Sept. 7 around 4 a. m., as noted in a news release from Durham police on Tuesday. They assisted with traffic management while Oshawa Fire Services worked to put out the flames.
Initially, law enforcement labeled the fire as suspicious. After conducting further inquiries, “it was determined that the fire was caused as a result of arson,” police stated on Tuesday.
No injuries have been reported, according to police.
