Catherine (Honey) Scavarelli, née Colosimo, who lived at Southbridge Roseview in Thunder Bay, passed away on August 29th, 2026, at the age of 92.
James (Jim/Door) Scavarelli, also residing at Southbridge Roseview in Thunder Bay, died on September 1st, 2026, at the age of 93.
They both grew up in the East End (Fort William) and got married on September 12, 1956.
Catherine spent a short time working in the offices of C. P. Rail before dedicating herself to being a stay-at-home mom for their son Gregg. James enjoyed a long career spanning over 40 years with C. P. Rail and retired as a carman on February 1st, 1989.
Catherine was an enthusiastic bowler well into her fifties. She loved to watch tennis, baseball, curling, and hockey on TV. Many hours were spent cheering for Gregg at the hockey rink and fastball diamond. Her son and grandchildren meant everything to her.
James dedicated countless hours as an umpire for little league baseball and fastball games. He had the privilege of umpiring during the Canada Games in Thunder Bay in 1981. He also traveled to Peterborough to officiate at the Women’s Fastball Championships as well as the Summer Games.
An avid bowler himself, James continued to curl for many years after retirement in the Go-Slow League at the Fort William Curling Club. He treated everyone like family and his life revolved around his grandson Braden and granddaughter Kara.
Catherine and James are survived by their only child Gregg (Guylaine), along with grandchildren Braden Scavarelli (Courtney), Kara Ten Have (Sean), and great-grandchild Henry James Scavarelli. James is additionally survived by his two brothers, Jack and Leroy Scavarelli.
Their remains were cremated, with funeral services scheduled for St. Agnes Church at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, officiated by Rev. James Panikulam. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been made through Blake Funeral Chapel located at 200 May Street S.
