An 88-year-old woman is fortunate to have escaped without injury after being robbed in broad daylight on Thursday afternoon.
Her daughter, Christine Lavallee, shared that the incident took place just after 4 p. m. near Anderson Drive and Seale Court.
According to Lavallee, her mother was using her walker to head around the corner and pick up her mail, which was about eight houses away from home. While she was there, a car pulled up.
Lavallee mentioned that her mom saw three individuals in the vehicle: an older woman sitting in the back seat, an older man at the wheel, and a younger man in the passenger seat.
Lavallee said her mother couldn’t hear their conversation clearly from the sidewalk, so she approached the car.
“When she got there, she braced herself with her hands on the side of the door while trying to hear what they were saying. They were asking for directions to the hospital,” wrote Lavallee.
She explained that it was then they grabbed her necklace and snatched off her rings.

Lavallee has since made a police report under the case name “Mackenzie.”
“They took her diamond wedding ring, diamond wedding band, and diamond rosary necklace,” wrote Lavallee, who pointed out these items held 66 years of memories connected to her mother’s late husband.
The vehicle involved is described as a blue four-door SUV.
Anyone with information about this vehicle or those involved is urged to reach out to Kingston Police.
Lavallee is also encouraging people to share her social media post in hopes of locating those responsible for this crime.
“The good news – and by far the most important thing – is that she is okay and wasn’t physically hurt. But it has certainly been a pretty awful and unsettling day,” wrote Lavallee. “Please remind your parents, grandparents, neighbours – and really, everyone – to be cautious if someone stops to ask for directions or help. What seems like a completely innocent interaction can change in seconds.”
