A rainbow crosswalk in Tillsonburg has been vandalized once more.
Last weekend, black paint and diesel fuel were dumped on the Progress Pride-themed crosswalk.
Officials from the Town of Tillsonburg stated that these materials created “a dangerous situation for motorists and an environmental hazard.”
Members of the local fire service helped to remove the harmful substances from the street.
This marks the fourth incident involving this crosswalk since it was installed in July, a project spearheaded by Oxford County Pride.
“Defacing public property is not acceptable in Tillsonburg at any time,” she added. “I cannot stress enough how concerning these incidents are to not only the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their allies, but to the entire community.”
The act of vandalism was reported to the Oxford County OPP – Tillsonburg detachment just before 1 a. m. on Sunday, Sept. 3.
Police mentioned on Thursday that they are reviewing video footage to identify those responsible for the damage.
