Editor’s Take: Atom Vie’s new radiomanufacturing facility could significantly influence future precision cancer treatments.

Atom Vie Global Radiopharma celebrated the opening of its newly constructed manufacturing site in Hamilton, Ontario. The CDMO describes this cutting-edge facility as a “defining moment” for the company in turning clinical achievements into impactful therapies.

The Role of Radiomanufacturing

The 72,300-square-foot plant, developed with an investment exceeding $160 million, is now the largest single-site North American CDMO facility dedicated to radiopharmaceutical development. Initial announcements about this site surfaced in 2023. Atom Vie states that it offers production capabilities ranging from low to high throughput and signifies a more-than-tenfold increase in their manufacturing capacity.

According to Atom Vie, this site is specifically designed for growth throughout its lifecycle. It allows for a smooth transition from early-stage radiopharmaceutical development to full-scale commercial production, which will positively affect the next wave of precision cancer therapies.

A New Era for Atom Vie

As this new location ramps up operations, Atom Vie plans to expand its workforce to over 200 by late 2026.

CEO Bruno Paquin sees the launch as a pivotal step for Atom Vie-and a proud achievement for innovation in nuclear medicine within Canada.

“Our new purpose-built facility amplifies a proven track record of reliable global delivery and deep scientific expertise,” Paquin said. “[It enables] us to support the development and commercialization of our partners’ pipelines. Above all, it advances our purpose of transforming patients’ lives by delivering high-quality radiopharmaceuticals to those who need them.”

So far, Atom Vie has assisted with over 70 clinical development and tech transfer programs. The company has produced more than 1000 current good manufacturing practice (c GMP) batches, resulting in over 4400 c GMP doses delivered to patients across 28 countries.

The company’s delivery success rate stands at over 99%.
