TORONTO – Ontario PC Party Leader Doug Ford offered his congratulations to Susan Lahey and Jeff Beattie this evening after their wins in the York-Simcoe and Hamilton East-Stoney Creek by-elections.
“Tonight, voters in York-Simcoe and Hamilton East-Stoney Creek chose two strong local leaders who will advocate for Ontario, support workers and families, and keep our province progressing,” said Ford. “I want to applaud Susan and Jeff on their victories and express my gratitude to all the volunteers and supporters who dedicated their time to help elect them.”
Lahey, a small business owner, Town Councillor for East Gwillimbury, and a committed community volunteer, was elected in York-Simcoe after running a campaign that prioritized affordability, responsible development, enhancing local infrastructure, and improving health care services.
Beattie, a lifelong resident of Stoney Creek, local entrepreneur, and Hamilton City Councillor, secured victory in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek by campaigning on job protection, investment in health care and infrastructure projects while aiming to reduce expenses for families.
“These results show strong support for our plan to protect Ontario,” said Ford. “With President Trump’s tariffs posing risks to our workforce and economy right now, people are looking for a government that will advocate for Ontario’s interests, manage costs effectively, build necessary infrastructure in our growing communities, and do everything possible to safeguard jobs.”
With Lahey and Beattie joining the Ontario PC team at Queen’s Park, Doug Ford along with the PCs will keep working on protecting Ontario through building roads, highways, public transit systems, hospitals while reinforcing health care services to lower costs making Ontario an attractive place within the G7 for investment that creates well-paying jobs.
“I also want to acknowledge Noor Tarun for stepping up and running a solid campaign in Scarborough Southwest,” said Ford. “He put in tremendous effort which I truly appreciate as he remains committed to both our Ontario PC team as well as his home community.”
