There are reports of a possible tornado in the Wellesley region as a strong storm moved through southern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued red tornado warnings from Stratford to the Waterloo Region between 5 p. m. and 6 p. m. on Wednesday as the weather system passed through.
“[The storms] produced large hail, heavy rain, and strong winds,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Rob Kuhn. “We’re seeing widespread power outages from the western part of Waterloo Region all the way to the Goderich/Grand Bend area.”
Kuhn noted they had received reports of hail reaching sizes up to 5 cm.

The Northern Tornadoes Project out of Western University is responsible for looking into this situation further.
Typically crews will head to areas that were affected to determine what really took place.
There’s going to be lots of work tomorrow because there’s damage in many places but that might be one of their priority areas for investigation,” Kuhn explained. “They’ll send out teams and perform damage assessments using both ground crews and drones.”
