With heavy hearts, we share the news of Irene Langille’s passing on August 29, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on September 30, 1961, in Pictou, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Lorraine (Langille) Ives.
Irene had a loving and dedicated life with her husband, James “Jimmy” Gordon Langille. Together, they spent many years running “Jim’s Light Duty Diesel,” where they proudly served customers from across Canada and the U. S. who came through Nova Scotia. Irene played a key role in Jimmy’s work as an automotive mechanic. While he focused on repairs in the shop, she handled office tasks like billing, paperwork, ordering parts, and communicating with clients. Her hard work made her an essential part of their business.
Irene’s loyalty to Jimmy remained strong even when he moved to Valley View Villa. She visited him daily and stayed actively involved in his care, always ensuring he was comfortable and well taken care of. Her commitment mirrored the deep love and devotion they shared throughout their lives.
Before teaming up with Jimmy, Irene proudly worked at Michelin for 14.5 years. During that time, she formed many lasting friendships that meant so much to her.
Irene was a devoted mother to Ryan Ives and Liz Langille (Adrian), as well as stepchildren Cherilee Hiltz and Clinton Hiltz. She was also a loving grandmother to Alannah, Sara, Brooke, Logan, Kyle and Kailee. Additionally, she had a special bond with her daughter-in-law Rebekah Ives (Weaver).
<p She is survived by her brothers Ronald Ives (Kathy) and Jimmy Ives; sisters Brenda Ives and Sheila Ives; along with her in-laws Brian Langille (Karen), Kevin Langille, Brenda Langille, and Darrell Langille. Aunt Irene will be deeply missed by her numerous nieces and nephews-especially Cindy Brown whom she shared a close relationship with.
Irene was predeceased by her mother Lorraine Ives; father Irving Ives; grandparents Edith and Harold Langille as well as Jessie and William Ives; sisters Kaye Brown and Heather Ives; brother Bill Ives; in-laws Lawrence and Mary Langille; sister-in-law Beth Langille; brother-in-law Terry Langille; chosen brother Harold Ives; along with many other family members and friends.
Irene will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt , and friend whose kindness , warmth , and beautiful smile touched everyone who knew her. She was hardworking , determined , and always ready to help others. Her great sense of humor brought laughter to those around her while her caring nature made people feel appreciated.
Our family wishes to express gratitude to the ICU staff and Palliative Care team who took such wonderful care of Mom during her time in the hospital. Your kindness made all the difference for our family.
We also want to thank everyone at Valley View Villa for showing so much love toward Mom while she spent each day there caring for Dad. It warms our hearts knowing how much you all cared about her.
A visitation is set for Monday , September 7th from 1-3pm and again from 5-7pm at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville.
