The province of Ontario is putting $154 million into expanding the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, adding nearly 80,000 square feet of new acute care space and creating 200 well-paying jobs.
This investment is a significant step that will help more patients and families get quicker, easier access to quality acute care closer to where they live.
The project aims to introduce over 110 additional inpatient beds and is part of the government’s strategy to strengthen Ontario’s health-care system.
In total, the province plans to invest $64 billion in more than 50 major hospital projects throughout Ontario over the next decade.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Halton and surrounding regions can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, deputy premier and minister of health.

The new advanced acute care renovations will help cut down on wait times, improve patient flow, and provide top-notch facilities that better serve the community.
Construction is projected to wrap up by late 2027 and will increase acute care capacity for nearly 400,000 residents across Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton, and nearby areas.
The government is also backing upgrades at Milton District Hospital as a component of its broader plan to meet healthcare needs in the region.
Once finished, these renovations will allow for an extra 12 inpatient beds and create numerous good-paying jobs within the community.
