BURLINGTON, ONT. – Invest Ontario is excited about a $15 million investment from SEKISUI Canada Modular Solutions Inc. (SCMS) to set up its Canadian manufacturing and operations hub in Burlington.
The facility will introduce advanced modular construction technology to Ontario, according to a release.
SCMS, which is part of Japan’s SEKISUI Chemical Co., Ltd., provides steel-frame modular building systems for various sectors, such as low- and mid-rise residential projects, schools and educational facilities, institutional buildings, and commercial developments.
Burlington was chosen for the company’s Canadian hub because of Ontario’s skilled workforce, solid transportation and logistics infrastructure, proximity to key housing and education markets, along with a supportive environment for innovation and investment, the release notes.
The company already works with clients in northern Ontario and aims to explore new opportunities across the province while expanding into wider Canadian and North American markets.
