A teenage driver is facing charges after a deadly crash in St. Catharines last year.
The accident took place on Highway 406, south of the QEW, at 8:20 p. m. on December 3, 2025, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
A car was heading south on the highway when the driver lost control and rolled into the center ditch, police reported.
The rear seat passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Thorold, was thrown from the vehicle. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene, said the OPP.
Authorities stated that both the driver and front seat passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Welland, were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Following a thorough investigation, police arrested and charged the driver, as announced by the OPP today.
A 19-year-old woman from St. Catharines has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.
Police did not disclose the identity of the person charged.
The accused has been released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on October 19.
