Windsor police have reported that a man who was wanted for an incident from two years ago has been taken into custody.
Alwassi Al Latif, who appeared on the Wanted in Windsor list back in April, turned himself in at police headquarters on Monday.
He faces charges of forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of extortion, and five counts of making death threats linked to a July 2024 incident.
Authorities claim Al Latif allegedly forced a man into his vehicle and drove him to another place, where the victim was assaulted and robbed.
The victim was reportedly threatened with further violence against him and his family if he disclosed what occurred.
At the time of the event, Al Latif was under a conditional sentence that required electronic monitoring and prohibited him from leaving Ontario.
In October 2024, he received approval to exit the province without monitoring and managed to avoid capture for nearly two years.
The charges are yet to be proven in court.
