Provincial police arrested a man on Wednesday in connection with a drug overdose death investigation that has been ongoing for almost eight months in Wasaga Beach.
On November 28, 2025, around 7:35 p. m., Huronia West OPP officers and EMS responded to a report of a sudden death in Wasaga Beach. When they arrived, emergency responders found a 34-year-old man who was unconscious.
According to police, first responders tried to perform life-saving measures but unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, authorities arrested a 33-year-old man from Wasaga Beach related to this incident. He faces charges including manslaughter, trafficking a schedule one substance, and failing to comply with a probation order.
A court date has been scheduled for the accused in Collingwood on Tuesday.
The crime unit from the detachment is continuing its investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch along with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
