Officials have reported that they discovered the aircraft belonging to a pilot who has been unaccounted for in Ontario since Friday, but the search for him is still ongoing.
The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) announced on X that the search operation had come to an end.
“It was found on Wolf Lake, in Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park,” the JRCC stated.
This news follows a report from Durham Regional Police Service to about finding plane debris in the park, although they were waiting for confirmation that it was related to their search efforts.
A large-scale rescue operation began this weekend after 73-year-old pilot David Douglas did not return to Oshawa Executive Airport as scheduled.
Durham Regional Police Service indicated that he took off around 8:30 a. m. on Friday and was expected back about an hour later. When he failed to return, a search commenced.

JRCC announced on Monday just before noon that the Ontario Provincial Police are now treating Douglas’s disappearance as a missing person’s case.

Douglas was piloting a light blue and yellow homebuilt aircraft. His family is urging anyone in the cottage area who may have seen something relevant to come forward with information regarding Douglas’s whereabouts. “Anyone who heard an aircraft flying unusually low on Friday morning, or heard an engine change pitch or stop, should call 911,” a statement issued by his family said, adding that anyone with footage from Friday should keep it safe and also call 911. More on Canada More videos Richard Wiltshire, a cousin of Douglas, shared with during an interview that David is an experienced pilot who enjoys flying for leisure. “This trip is, my understanding, this trip is quite normal for him to go on a flight,” Wiltshire mentioned. “We want him home; we want him safe with his family again.” The pilot is described by police as five feet seven inches tall with a slim build.
