With heavy hearts, we share the news of Mrs. Rosa Ricchetti’s passing on June 20, 2026, at the age of 98.
Rosa was born on June 2, 1928, in Faeto, Italy. Her life was filled with love for her family, kindness to others, and a strong sense of faith. She is now with her husband, Antonio Ricchetti. They met while dancing in their hometown shortly after World War II and quickly married. Their nearly 60 years together continued until Antonio passed away on May 20, 2003.
Rosa will be fondly remembered by her two sons: Vincent (Chris predeceased) and Leonard (Elizabeth). Her grandchildren-Tiffany (Anthony), Sabrina (Eric), Shane, James (Rosanna), Michael (Chelsea), Alexander (Kayla), and Robert (Mariah)-along with her great-grandchildren Ava, Siena, Christina, Charlea, Millie, Elena, Madison, Alexa, Fable, Lincoln, and Daniella will all miss their beloved “nonna” dearly.
She is also survived by her caring siblings Filomena and Mario.
After spending ten years in Italy working hard to support their family, Rosa and Antonio sought better opportunities for their sons. In 1955 Antonio moved to Canada; Rosa bravely followed a year later with their boys by boat to start anew.
Family was everything to Rosa. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her loved ones-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike. Her home radiated warmth and laughter along with the delicious smells from her kitchen. Holiday gatherings were particularly special as she prepared feasts that brought everyone together around the table.
Rosa also enjoyed knitting and made countless handmade gifts that would remind those she loved of her thoughtfulness. She had a big heart and always put family first. When they arrived in Canada during the early days after immigrating here with Antonio , they opened up their home to her parents as well as two sisters , brother , and other relatives from Puglia , Italy , helping them establish new lives in this country.
Her generosity touched everyone who knew her. A woman of deep faith, Rosa found comfort through prayer throughout her life which provided strength during difficult times. Her compassion , kindness, and quiet strength inspired many lucky enough to cross paths with her.
Though we feel heartbroken over our loss, we find solace knowing that Rosa’s spirit continues through the family traditions she nurtured, the memories she created, and all those whose lives were enriched by her love, support, and kindness.
She will always be loved, nor forgotten, and deeply missed. May she find eternal peace.
