The Town of Tecumseh is putting its savings from a project toward ongoing stormwater management efforts.
The leftover $5.2 million from the Tecumseh Hamlet and Manning Road Secondary Plan Area project will go towards building two new stormwater management ponds.
Tecumseh received an initial $15.1 million from the provincial government for this project, which aims to lower flooding risks in the region and facilitate the construction of up to 6,000 new homes.
“Through our government’s $4-billion Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, we are protecting Ontario by investing in local infrastructure that drives economic growth, creates jobs, and strengthens communities,” said Ontario Acting Infrastructure Minister Todd Mc Carthy. “By working with the Town of Tecumseh, we are pleased to support the town’s reallocation of cost savings to fund new infrastructure projects that will support new housing and build a more resilient community.”
The Tecumseh Hamlet project has recently been completed.
The funding originated from Queens Park’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
